Prof. Dr. Kıvanç ULUSOY

Prof. Dr. Kıvanç Ulusoy is a professor of political science at the Faculty of Political Sciences, Istanbul University, where he has served since February 2008. His academic background is rooted in political science and international relations, with a PhD in Modern Turkish History from Boğaziçi University (1999–2002). He holds both a Master's and a Bachelor's degree in International Relations from the Middle East Technical University (METU) in Ankara.

His academic career includes prestigious fellowships, such as the Fulbright Fellowship at the Ash Center for Democratic Governance and Innovation at Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government (2012–2013) and the Jean Monnet Fellowship at the Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies at the European University Institute in Florence, Italy (2003–2004). Over the years, he has actively contributed to the academic community with a diverse portfolio of publications, translations, and research.

He has translated Ian Kershaw's Nazi Dictatorship: Problems and Perspectives of Interpretation and has authored monographs such as Catalans and Conflict and Prosperity: Geopolitics and Energy in the Eastern Mediterranean. His research interests encompass migration and refugee studies, regional and international security issues, and the geopolitical dynamics of the Eastern Mediterranean. His articles, which analyze topics such as Turkey's state capacity in the Syrian migration crisis and shifting alliances in the Eastern Mediterranean, have appeared in journals like the European Journal of Law and Migration and the Journal of Balkan and Near Eastern Studies.

Beyond his academic publications, he has participated in numerous international conferences and symposia, presenting papers on a wide array of subjects. His work has been supported by scholarships and research grants from institutions such as the European Commission, Tsukuba University in Japan, and the Central European University in Hungary.

Prof. Dr. Kıvanç Ulusoy has extensive teaching experience, delivering courses on international political theory, European integration, Turkish politics, and public policy. His work focuses on understanding the complexities of international relations and political governance from both theoretical and practical perspectives.
