Dr. Gökhan ÇINKARA

Dr. Gökhan Çınkara is an Assistant Professor at Necmettin Erbakan University, serves as the Director of the Global and Regional Studies Center (NEU SAM), is a commentator for Habertürk, and writes as a columnist for Independent Türkçe. He received his BA in Political Science and Public Administration from Ankara University’s Faculty of Political Science between 2005 and 2010, and went on to complete a PhD in Political Science at the same institution in 2020. During his doctoral studies, he served as a Visiting Researcher at the Truman Centre at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (2016–2017) and at the Schusterman Centre at Brandeis University (2017–2018), deepening his expertise in Middle Eastern politics and international relations.

He began his career as a research assistant at Ankara University, a position he held from 2011 to 2020. From 2018 to 2020, he worked at the Turkish Presidency as an analyst. Since 2021, he has been an Assistant Professor at Necmettin Erbakan University, where he continues his academic research and teaching. Alongside his university duties, he provides regular commentary for the media and writes opinion pieces for a variety of outlets, including Haberturk and Independent Türkçe. His bylines also appear in international publications such as AGSIW, The Washington Institute, American Conservative, and The National Interest. Dr. Çınkara’s research focuses primarily on the Middle East, with particular emphasis on Israel/Palestine, the Arab Gulf states, the Muslim Brotherhood, Salafism, and the broader networks of political Islam.
