Ambassador (R) Mehmet Hasan GÖĞÜŞ

Ambassador (R) Göğüş was born in 1953 in Gaziantep. He graduated from the Faculty of Political Sciences at Ankara University in 1976, and the following year he joined the Turkish Foreign Service. Throughout his career, he served in various capacities at Turkish missions in New Delhi, Geneva, London, and Vienna. In 2001, he was appointed as Ambassador to India. Subsequently, he represented Türkiye in Greece, Austria, and Portugal. His final assignment in Ankara was as Deputy Under-Secretary, where he oversaw EU affairs and bilateral relations with European countries.

In 2013, he was honored with the Order of Orange Nassau by Her Majesty Queen Beatrix, in recognition of his contributions to Turkish–Dutch relations. After forty-two years of dedicated service, he retired from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2018. He currently serves as a member of the Board of Trustees at Okan University in Istanbul and is President of the Advisory Board of the International Development Law Organization (IDLO) in Rome. Since 2019, he has been writing weekly columns on foreign policy for the T-24 news website.

Ambassador Göğüş is the author of two published books, Diplomacy in Difficult Capitals and Diplomacy Essays.
