Prof. Dr. Tanju TOSUN
Prof. Tanju Tosun received his PhD. in Public Administration from 9 Eylül University in 1998 with a thesis on "Fragmentation in Turkish Centre-Right and Centre-Left Parties"." Prior to this, he had obtained a Master's degree in Public Administration from the same university in 1996, studying the effects of military coups on political culture. Dr Tosun has held several academic positions at Ege University and was promoted to professor in 2010. He was also a visiting scholar at the Middle East Institute's Centre for Turkish Studies in Washington D.C. in spring 2011. His professional activities include membership in the Turkish Political Science Association and the Foundation of Turkish Social, Economical, and Political Researches.
Dr. Tosun has received several research grants and awards, including the Milliyet Awards for Social Sciences in 1993 and the TÜSİAD-Kalder-YeniYüzyıl Article Awards. Throughout his career, Dr Tosun has published numerous books and articles in professional and academic journals. Dr Tosun has also contributed chapters to books on topics such as voter preferences and the history and future of the state.
Dr. Tosun's research interests focus on Turkish politics, political parties, voting behavior, comparative politics and electoral geography. He has also been involved in projects examining political instability and the search for effective systems of governance in Turkey. His work includes studies on voter preferences, urbanisation and political settlement, and the evolution of political party membership in Turkey.
