Prof. Dr. Hasan KAZDAĞLI
Prof. Dr. Hasan Kazdağlı completed his PhD in 1986, during which he spent over a year conducting research at the University of Manchester in England. In 1986, he joined the faculty of Hacettepe University as an Assistant Professor and was promoted to Associate Professor of Economic Theory in 1990. In 1996, he was appointed Professor of Economic Policy. During his approximately 35 years at Hacettepe University, he also lectured at various universities and public institutions, including the Turkish Statistical Institute and the Central Bank.
Dr. Kazdağlı has held numerous senior positions in public institutions throughout his career. He has been an advisor to the President of the Turkish Higher Education Council, Deputy Undersecretary of the Undersecretariat of Defence Industry, Member of the Board of Directors of Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI), Vice Rector of Hacettepe University, and Rector of Pamukkale University, among others. He was also a board member of the General Directorate of Credit and Dormitories, TOBB University of Economics and Technology, and Turkish Aeronautical Association University.
He was Chief Advisor to the Minister of Economy and held various expert positions in international projects funded by organisations such as the World Bank and the European Union. Dr. Kazdağlı participated in various research and application projects reflecting his expertise on the Turkish economy, focusing on incentive and financing policy, macroeconomic policy, trade policy, education, defence industry, and energy policy. Notable projects include the Biogas Project for UNICEF, the GAP Regional Development Masterplan, and the Tourism Sector Masterplan.
In addition, he has served advisory roles, e.g. as an expert in education planning and finance for the Ministry of National Education and as a senior expert at Price Waterhouse Coopers (PwC) Turkey. Since April 2019, he has been the President of the Turkish Economic Association.
